um, yeah...We're gonna need you to work on Sunday...

...that will be a full day, yeah...It was ALL hands on deck yesterday as we scrubbed and painted, painted and scrubbed...We are adding a little color to the oven wall and I am flashing my gold paintbrush on all the trim work (loving this paint by Ralph Lauren called,of all things, Gold Base!)...gilding the lily, you might say! Today will be more of the same...with luck we will get it done so we can put this bakery back together on Tues and get back to our regularly scheduled programming! We have a full B&B starting Wed and the weekend is shaping up to be a busy one...I can't believe April is here!

Flour Prices...oh My!

Mercy! Flour Prices have jumped 100% in our neck of the woods...We have been using Morebread unbleached and had hoped that with pallet prices we could upgrade to Guistos organic...but at $50 some dollars a bag, no way we can make an upgrade like that and not have to severely raise prices...we have to be available to the masses! We are hoping to ride the storm, but it's amazing that bread made with good wheat flour has become such a luxury!

Spring Cleaning!

The light is back! This is when we reap the benefits if living so far north...the daylight giving us long sunny evenings and end in a gorgeous sunset...looking out at all this gloriousness inspires me to do one thing...Wash the windows! Yes the light is back...and shining in all those places that, well, you know, don't you? It's spring cleaning for us baker girls and boys...the bakery is for sure closing Sunday to Tuesday (no April Fools!) and we will be painting, repairing...and most of all CLEANING! Happy Spring, Everybody!

Shameless...

Yes, Hawaii was wonderful, sorry to have been so out of touch, but everyone needs a little time off now and then! Now, I'm home and glad to be on the tail end of winter and ready to get 'rolling'! We are closing the Bakery for a couple of days starting this Sunday...hoping to paint and clean and move into our newly built storage on the back porch. When we reopen we'll be making plans to introduce Pizza Nights to our upcoming summer schedule! We want to utilize the brick oven to make pizzas in the evenings and keep the bakery open a little later to give more folks an option for fast and affordable eats and us a way to pay off that new storage area! We are also hoping to add a new La Marzoco Espresso Machine to our line-up...amping up the coffee speed and quality another notch or two! Suddenly so much to do and so little time to do it in! good thing I already got my time in the hot tub! Aloha! Carri
